The OESCGS BobTales!

Several years ago, the members of the OESCGS Summer Specialty Committee decided to offer a supplement to the show catalog. We were already creating the ads and sending them to the show superintendent for the catalog - why not publish our own advertising? That is how the first OESCGS Summer Specialty Supplement began in 2004. Over the years, we’ve made a few changes. While the first supplements were the same size as a catalog (5.5” x 8.5”) two years ago, we decided to use the dimensions of our club newsletter, Raggedy Ramblings (7” x 8.5”). The pages were not only larger, but the shape was better for our boxy bobtails. In 2007, we were able to offer the first color pages. So now, you can advertise your gray and white sheepdog in full color (their tongues are a very pretty pink - and we love to get a blue-eyed subject). As you will see in this year’s edition, the color pages are quite beautiful. One of the benefits of creating our own advertising booklet is that the club gains the revenue from the sales. In the past, we did the design work and the superintendent got the money. Now, just by charging the going rate for catalog advertising (or less), the booklet has become one of our largest fund raising projects of the year. In 2009, the OESCGS Board of Directors decided to change the name of the supplement to “BobTales.” With the number of non-show people advertising (just for fun), the publication has become much like a club yearbook. Also, in 2009, we put the BobTales on our club website (see below for that issue). If you advertise, you can now email your page to all your friends and relatives, print out extra copies of your ad, and enjoy the whole edition on your big screen computer or TV. This year’s BobTales committee includes Annie Griffin as Editor/designer, Renee Smith in Sales, and Gary Kennedy in Publication and Finances. Thank you to all our advertisers.
